Fix Apollo Group TV Error 400: Bad Request Troubleshooting (2026)
Error 400 is one of the most common issues on Startup Show and other players. It stands for "Bad Request," which means your app is trying to load a video format that the server cannot understand or process at that moment.
This is rarely a server outage. It is usually caused by corrupted cache files on your device or ISP blocking.

1. Fix 1: The "Golden" Cache Clear
Over time, your streaming app stores temporary files that can get corrupted. This is the #1 cause of Error 400. You must clear these files to force the app to re-sync with our servers.
- Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
- Find Startup Show (or Apollo TV).
- Select Force Stop.
- Select Clear Cache. (Do not select Clear Data unless necessary, as this deletes your login).
- Restart your device and try again.
2. Fix 2: VPN Protocol Switch
If you are using a VPN, the "Protocol" (the language the VPN uses) might be conflicting with the video stream. This is a common hidden cause of Error 400.
How to fix it:
- Open your VPN app (NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN).
- Go to Settings > Protocol.
- Switch from "Auto" to WireGuard (Fastest) or OpenVPN TCP (Most Stable).
- Reconnect and test the stream.
3. Fix 3: ISP Throttling
If you are not using a VPN, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) might be inspecting your traffic and blocking the stream packets, resulting in a "Bad Request."
If clearing the cache didn't work, we highly recommend testing a VPN connection. This encrypts your traffic so your ISP cannot see or block the video stream.
4. Error 400 FAQs
Is Error 400 a server outage?
Usually, no. If the server were down, you would likely see Error 404 (Not Found) or Error 500. Error 400 is almost always a "client-side" issue with your app or internet.
Why does it only happen on some channels?
Some channels use different streaming formats (e.g., HLS vs. MPEG-TS). If your app's codec is stuck or corrupted, it might fail to play specific formats while others work fine.
Do I need to reinstall the app?
Reinstalling is the "nuclear option." Try clearing the cache first. If that fails, uninstalling and reinstalling will ensure you have the latest bug-free version of the player.
